Contraindications

Please review our most current contraindications before participating in microneedling treatments. Clients who meet any of the following criteria may not receive a treatment:

  • Medical Conditions and Medications
      1. Pregnancy or breastfeeding
      2. Bleeding disorders or use of blood thinners (e.g., NSAIDs, aspirin, Coumadin/Warfarin)
      3. Immune-suppressed conditions
      4. Active cancer, autoimmune disorders, or AIDS
      5. Uncontrolled diabetes or severe hypertension
      6. Pituitary disorders
      7. Recent use of steroids

 

  • Skin Conditions
      1. Active infections (viral, fungal, or bacterial)
      2. Skin-related autoimmune disorders
      3. Presence of warts or skin cancer in the treatment area
      4. Actinic (solar) keratosis
      5. Active cold sores

 

  • Recent Treatments or Medications
    1. Use of Accutane within the past 6 months to 1 year
    2. Recent cosmetic surgery or ablative dermal procedures

 

Participants must agree to follow the pre-treatment instructions: 

  • Discontinue Sensitizing Topical Agents (5–7 Days Prior): Avoid using retinoids, topical antibiotics, exfoliants, and drying or irritating products such as alpha hydroxy acids (AHA), beta hydroxy acids (BHA), salicylic acid, hydroquinone, benzoyl peroxide, and exfoliating masks.
  • Avoid Sun Exposure (2 Weeks Prior): Refrain from IPL/laser procedures and unprotected sun exposure or sunburn to ensure your skin is in optimal condition for treatment.
  • No Accutane (6–12 Months Prior): Do not use Accutane or similar isotretinoin products within the past 6–12 months, as they can affect skin healing and sensitivity.
  • Hair Removal (5–7 Days Prior): Do not wax, use depilatory creams, or undergo electrolysis in the treatment area. Avoid shaving on the day of treatment to minimize irritation. If dense hair is present, closely shave the area the day before your appointment. 
  • Moles, warts, or actinic (solar) keratosis cannot be treated.
  • Cold Sores: If you are prone to cold sores, consult your physician about taking an antiviral medication (e.g., Valtrex) for prior to the treatment.
  • Blood Thinners (1 Week Prior): To minimize bruising, avoid blood-thinning agents such as aspirin, fish oil, Omega-3, and Vitamin E.
  • Alcohol Consumption: Avoid alcohol consumption within the last 24 hours before your appointment
  • Reveal any conditions, including medical, that may be of significance to the procedure.
